Ordering books and other resources, conducting story times, and teaching students how to find books in the library are just a few of my responsibilities.

Helen, a Navajo teacher that works in the central part of the Navajo Nation, is concerned about the lack of literature available for students and believes that personalized book bags would make a positive difference for her students.
Authentic reading materials include published works that are typically encountered by students in daily life, such as in magazines, books or newspapers.
The use of authentic reading material may mean that some material is emotionally charged or may use language outside of a student's particular cultural experience.

These items will assist students with creative problem solving and innovative project creation.Librarians teach students how to use electronic databases to access articles from journals and newspapers.I guide students in finding and using a wide variety of materials.New York State ELA Curriculum for Grades Pre-K-2 The New York State ELA Curriculum for grades Pre-K-2 is made up of three components: the Listening and Learning strand and Skills strand (from the Core Knowledge Language Arts-New York Edition) and Guided Reading and Accountable Independent Reading.The Listening and Learning strand lessons, comprised of teacher read-alouds, class discussion, vocabulary work, and extension activities, build on the research finding that students’ listening comprehension outpaces their reading comprehension throughout elementary school.The program, which provides passholders with unlimited bus rides for one year, launches Friday.
